I am a fairly experienced knitter but the pattern is proving complicated to follow. I think you forgot to take into account that you use up a stitch to make an increase, so - for example - in row 3 of the sole, after you have cast on 29, it's impossible to (for the large size) K 14 on either end with two increases and a K1 in the middle - that's more than 29 sts right there. You wind up with 31 sts and then in row 4 you need all those sts without the increases. If you K13 on either end instead, row 3 works but then you get stuck on row 4 where that requires 31 sts without the increases. I hope I am making sense. I'm going to try the pattern as written by casting on 31 sts instead of 29 and see what happens, but maybe, no offense intended but maybe you should try it as written and see what I mean. I've not gotten past row 3 yet so I'm nervous about the instep but I'll wing it and hope for the best. These look charming and precious, just like my baby, so I'm eager to get this right! Thanks.Nannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4309601817398579639.post-80018463494583814522012-02-27T04:09:46.474-07:002012-02-27T04:09:46.474-07:00Thank you for the pattern, I am just a beginner &a...Thank you for the pattern, I am just a beginner & I am so lost at the instep. I've read it over and over and I can't figure out what I did wrong... The trouble is, I followed the directions (I thought) but what I have is what appears to be the heel, and then I began on the ribbing for the cuff, however there isn't a toe! Everything was going well...I don't understand why I don't have a toe. Like I said, I've gone over and over the directions and I'm certain I followed them correctly. After completing the instep (and I have 30 stitches after the increasing 1 stitch at the end of the row), I have a few more stitches on the right side (12) of the boot toe than the left side (10) - when what I think is the front of the boot is facing me (cast on tail is on right end).
